Eco-friendly products are always something to take pride in and are easy on the pocket while giving peace of mind to use. Being friendly to our environment has always been our forte and is legitimately a good way to live your life. Below are 5 eco-friendly products used in our day to day life that you can make yourself and save on that extra expenditure.
A very easy yet effective way to save your precious hair from falling in heaps. Take a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil and pour some vitamin E oil into it. Most of the oils that you use may have vitamin E content but probably the other ingredients of the oil nullify the benefits or they don’t contain them at all. What better way than to make your own hair oil? Vitamin E oil is a natural moisturizer and will help in moisturizing your scalp thus helping in reducing dandruff and drying up of the scalp. Dandruff itself is very embarrassing, and constant scratching will only add to that. So better make your own oil that you know for sure will help you out in this case. This can also be massaged into your skin as it moisturizes and makes your skin have a glowy texture.
How cool is it to make your own deodorant yourself? You can finally have a eco friendly product – deodorant with the fragrance you desire. Completely tailor-made for you, by yourself. The first thing you need to do is find the right fragrance or the mix of fragrance you want. Next, take some coconut oil and arrowroot starch. Make sure you take the same amount of both and half the amount of baking soda. Next mix the latter with the starch thoroughly in a bowl and add the coconut oil in. Mix into a paste and add in desired fragrance oils. Next, you need to pour them into the bottle or whatever you would like to store them in, something fancy would look nice. Let it cool for half an hour and after it cools off, you have something like a cream which you can apply on your skin. This homemade deo gives off great fragrance and contains antibacterial properties (courtesy of coconut oil) and absorbs all body odor (courtesy of baking soda).
Homemade Lip Balm
This one is pretty cool as the level of customization that can be done on it is just endless. You can choose any color and flavor or probably experiment with them both. All you need to make this cool homemade lip balm is Beeswax, coconut oil, vitamin E and any essence oil, lipstick -which is optional, and an old lip balm container. Beeswax usually comes in blocks, so grate them into a microwave safe bowl and add coconut oil into it in a 1:1 ratio. Microwave for a minute or as long as it doesn’t boil. Then, you can add in a small piece of lipstick if you desire along with vitamin E and your fragrance oil. Microwave for 10 seconds. Then pour them into the containers and place them in the refrigerator to cool down. Voila, your homemade lip balms are ready to put a smile on your face!
All you need is a jar or anything you want to hold the freshener really, baking soda and your choice of essential oil(s). Add the desired amount of baking soda, just not too much (probably quarter of the container) and add a proportionate amount of essential oil into it. Mix thoroughly and place the lid onto the container. Drill holes into the lid and there you have it. Your own little air freshener!
Homemade Remineralizing Toothpaste
This one is pretty amazing and unique. You need diatomaceous earth powder, baking soda, flavored chlorophyll, some peppermint or any extract, coconut oil, and some xylitol. You might need to do some serious shopping for this one, but believe me, it’s worth it. Add 3 tablespoons of food grade earth powder, ¼ teaspoon spoon of baking soda, ¼ chlorophyll, and mint extract, ½ coconut oil and some xylitol. Add 1 tablespoon of water and mix until it takes the form of a paste. Now wake up to a healthy, all natural and remineralizing earth clay toothpaste in the morning.
